Jose Villamizar is a Senior Consultant and Project Manager at our Perth office in Western Australia. Jose is a skilled and qualified environmental scientist holding a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Environmental Management from the University of Queensland.
Jose provides scientific advice to studies and environmental assessments to mineral resource industry clients. On a technical level, Jose has specialised in environmental approvals and project management for the past 5 years and has more than 7 years of experience in environmental management. Jose’s experience comes from a consulting and industry background and as a government regulator.
Jose has demonstrated success in project management by engaging and working together with different teams to achieve a common goal, the successful delivery of projects on time and within budgets. In particular, Jose’s three years’ experience within the environment team of BHP Billiton Iron Ore gives him a good understanding of linkages between operational requirements, environment and community considerations.
Before he joined PEL in 2014, Jose was in the BHP Billiton Iron Ore infrastructure team in charge of assisting port and rail operations personnel with the development of strategies for dust control as well as managing a wide number of specific activities and operations (eg. unloading, reclaiming, screening, rail, power, water treatment, camps and airports).
Jose was born in Colombia, has travelled the world and has lived in Australia for the last 13 years. Jose loves sports and enjoys time outdoors with family and friends.
