Ecofest Gladstone 2014

Gladstone’s annual environmental awareness event, Ecofest, celebrated its 15th year on Sunday 1 June. The festival is put on by the Gladstone Regional Council.

As this year’s theme was ‘Keeping our waterways healthy’, a number of Gladstone’s local industries explained what they do to reduce negative impacts on our waterways (with a couple of excellent models, to boot).

The turnout to the event was massive, with a huge number of families spending the day touring the stalls, enjoying the entertainment, and listening to guest speakers.

Pacific Environment had our very own stall there to add to the festivities and also add a few ideas of our own to the mix. With our recent acquisition and partnership with WSA (Waste Solutions Australia) and their work in groundwater monitoring, the ‘healthy waterways’ theme at this year’s EcoFest could not have been more relavent for Pacific Environment.

It was a great day, and the message of protecting our environment was shared with the community, especially the younger generation. Some of the biggest attractions were the wildlife – ranging from birds to turtles and even baby wombats!

We look forward to joining EcoFest and more events like this in the future. If you have any ideas on festivals or tradeshows that you would like to see us at in the future, please contact us at
